Although some might argue that having a bluetooth gadget isn't really necessary, is having one such as a popular wireless headset essential and really worth the price?

by Matt Parker

In this new age of technology, a lot has spawned out of the networking era. Its advances have led many people to question which gadget is more important and needed in our daily lives. With the emergence of the communication protocols, the implication of having a device, which would unite all of these into one universal standard, has led to the innovation of the Bluetooth. Although some might argue that having a bluetooth gadget isn’t really necessary, is having one such as a popular wireless headset essential and really worth the price?

While the bluetooth operates as a wireless exchange of data, the combination of this with a headphone and microphone resulted to a wireless bluetooth headset. Its basic function includes a hands-free communication usually within 100 meters of data transmission from one device to another. Although this is the bluetooth headset’s initial feature, one must look further to be able to maximize its given basic function. Bluetooth headsets should be able to reduce ambient noise from surrounding sound. In addition to that, having a noise suppression characteristic would make a good sound quality. This would allow you to improve conversations especially when you are on the road or outdoors. Other than the technical side, it should grace you with style and comfort. Having a slick bluetooth headset is ineffective if it is loose or does not fit well in your ears.

The price range of the bluetooth headsets usually fall from as low as 7 to 100 dollars. Brands would be the defining factor in this wide disparity. China bluetooth headsets can be ordered in bulk or wholesale, so normally it would be sold in the cheapest price ever. For a general rule, the cheaper the product, the less quality you can get out of it. However, some gadget analysts would clarify such misconceptions. An example of which is the Cardo Scala 500, which is priced at $38 sometimes with shipping. It has great Internet reviews mostly about the clear sound quality both incoming and outgoing. It also has numerous features such as mute, end, answer, redial, which make it more interesting. Other bluetooth headsets have the tendency to drop and disconnect calls randomly, so better research well on these brands as there are so many! Last June 2007, Apple supported the Jawbone Bluetooth Headset, which has a high cost of $120. It is designed with a noise-canceling technology that built a great stand on performance, garnering CNET website’s highest rated bluetooth headsets recognition, not mentioning its very polished form.

In general, bluetooth headsets make one’s life convenient, more productive, and safer. Using hands free communication would actually help you to multi-task without the hassle of cable wires and setting up devices to keep in touch with your loved ones or business partners. It helps you manage your calls, wire free – free from hazardous connections. It can also act as a tool for listening to your favorite music from your phone or PC, just by pressing a button in the earpiece. Its downside would have to include the noticeable drop down in standby and talk time when the battery wavers in time. In terms of data transfer, it is slower than the infrared having 4MBps compared to 1MBps. With regards to security, it has a greater range of frequency, which is susceptible to interception. Given its pros and cons and price range, it is now up to you to determine if bluetooth headset can fit in your lifestyle during this industrial age of technological boom where everyone is in need of constant communication.

In buying bluetooth headsets, more than looking into its basic function of wireless communication and data transmission, one must be keen on how else it can make his life easier and productive at the same time being practical with the amount he is investing in.

by Matt Parker

In buying bluetooth headsets, more than looking into its basic function of wireless communication and data transmission, one must be keen on how else it can make his life easier and productive at the same time being practical with the amount he is investing in. The technological market offers a lot of choices from unknown brands to popular ones making it more difficult to decide. The point however is for you to optimize your purchasing power by researching on what these gadgets can do more in your daily life, one that is relatively affordable and what would somehow last.

Motorola has been an established company specializing on different technological products and services. From two-way radios, television sets, wireless broadband, and cellular phones, it has come in partnership with the people on the quality of what they offer. In this technological phenomenon, Motorola has again proven its worth when they ventured in bluetooth headsets, which drove the company to being the topnotch seller of such device. Last 2007, it has released another craft that set the bar a little higher in the bluetooth headset world.

With its slick and stylish impression, there has to be something more on what Motorola’s H550 headset can do. As what most critics would say about bluetooth headsets, its limitation lies mostly in the battery life. Mostly, it struggles with energy saving that one can only use for a few hours. Contradictory to this bad review, H550 offers a notable 8 hours standby and talk time. It has engaged in this creative “power slider”, just above the center of the headset, which acts as a tool in the gadget that turns off the headset when not in use. Instead of leaving it on standby mode, thus draining the battery eventually, Motorola representatives saw that this is important therefore revealed that forthcoming headsets will have this feature, which actually sets them apart from the other wireless headsets.

More than that, it has upgraded functions such as mute and un-mute, reject, answer, redial calls that deliver a higher performance. As for the sound condition, it has an improved, well-designed speaker, which helps in incoming quality audio fulfillment. It also comes with three differently shaped ear attachments that would actually ensure a perfect fit to any size of ears. The H550 also includes a USB charging connector, which will make you easily charge your headset in personal computers. Unfortunately, the kit does not come with the cable, so you have to buy it separately.

Speaking of misfortunes, in any gadget, there has to be something that would leave room for the development of the next product. Motorola’s H550 shortcoming would have to be in the microphone. It is situated near the cheeks rather than the mouth. It does not also provide noise cancellation and such factors lessen the quality of the outgoing sound. Its charging port has no cover that attracts more dust and small particles. Although it has USB charging connector, it does not have a compatible car charger.

Overall, Motorola’s H550 offers an improved quality that sets standards in the production of bluetooth headsets. Although it is relatively poor in outgoing audio, it has other perks in design, added features and incoming sounds. For around $40, it is quite an enticer!

More and more states are recognizing the dangers of using cell phones while driving. Remember the 10 o’clock – 2 o’clock hand positions while driving? If you are caught not following this because of cell phone use you can be busted either by a policeman or worse, meet an accident.

The outlines of the cell phone driving laws are as follows:

Complete Hand Held Bans for All Drivers – Not all states are at a complete cell phone ban. Currently, the states participating in this are California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Washington. The District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands are also for this Law. This means that any driver caught using a handheld phone while driving can be given a ticket. Using a handheld phone by itself is a traffic offense.

Novice Ban – In some states, a driver in probationary status is banned from using hand held phones. The guidelines may differ from state to state. Some would consider drivers under 18, 19 or 21 as novice drivers. Also, people with learners permit, provisional license, first 6 – 12 months of driving, or have a history of getting a ticket or traffic crash are banned from using hand held phones. These states are California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.

School Bus Drivers Ban – When driving a school bus with kids on board law or no law, the drivers should be focusing on the road rather than talking on the phone. Luckily 17 states agree with me like Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Text Messaging Bans – Participated by Alaska, California, Connecticut, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Jersey, Washington and the District of Columbia.

Texting Ban for Novice drivers – Alaska, California, Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.

Texting Ban for School Bus Drivers – Arkansas, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia prohibit bus drivers carrying passengers from texting.

This is the summarized version of the handheld phone law. But before you even think about grabbing your phone while driving, law or no law, look at the facts. A lot of accidents and crashes can be traced to distraction. And guess what the number one distraction is.

Using Bluetooth headsets is the least you can do if you cannot be away from you phone. If you think about the enormity of money being spent for hospital bills due to accidents, repairs or even death, then a couple of bucks for a Bluetooth headset to prevent this sounds real good, right?

No matter how good of a driver you are or you think you are, the facts do not lie. Experts from the Harvard Center or Risk Analysis gleaned that a 20-year-old driver using a handheld phone has the reaction time worse than a 70-year-old. This means 18% slower response to break lights and 17% longer to get his speed up after stopping.

So before you get a ticket or be in an accident, grab a Bluetooth headset. You’ll be saving yourself and your family’s lives.
