Can You Really Use Covert Hypnosis While Talking With Someone?

Have you ever met one of those smooth talking salesmen who can sell snowballs to Eskimos? Some people just seem able to convince others to do almost anything they want.

Why are some people able to do this and other aren’t?

Conversational hypnosis is one way of influencing others by simply talking with them.

Let me tell you what conversational hypnosis is.

Putting people in deep trances like a psycho-hypnotist would do in this office is not what conversational hypnosis is about.

The use of language to distract or by-pass the listener’s conscious mind and make subliminal suggestions to their subconscious is conversational hypnosis.

One of the best at doing this is a guy called Robert Dilts. He calls this kind of language sleight of mouth. He says that language is really a map of our world, and that no two people live in the same world. (Deep, huh?)

What he is saying is that each individual sees the world in her own way, and she uses language to discuss her world and amazingly, even to form her world.

So basically, when you speak about something in a certain way, you actually cause yourself to think of it in that way. For example, if you habitually express that you hate going to school, you will reinforce that feeling and even strengthen it. You are creating that reality by simply talking about it.

So what does this have to do with conversational hypnosis?

Here’s the connection, in the same way you directed your mind to hate school, you can direct the minds of others to hate school as well by simply talking to them about how you hate school.

This gives the expression attitudes are contagious a whole new meaning. You see, not only do someone’s words influence their mind to create a new reality, they influence others in the same way.

Remember how your parents used to freak out if they thought you had the wrong friends? Well, there maybe something to that. If you hang around friends who think a certain way, the words they use will carry those attitudes like a virus into your subconscious and literally start infecting you to think the same way. For good or for bad.

You see how powerful your words are? One reason they are so strong is the subconscious brain absorbs them like a sponge.

You may not realize it, but your subconscious mind is always aware of what is going on around you, as well as inside you. Most of your thinking actually happens in the subconscious, and the subconscious can be influenced by what you say, and by what other people say to you.

So if you use the right kinds of words you can really change the way you, and others, see the world. And what are the right kinds of words? Ahhhhhh, thats a good question. But you’ll have to wait until part 2 of this article, or visit my blog.
