I’ve been writing as a freelance writer for over 30 years. Once you get into the swing of it, and have a stable of clients, you can make more income than you could make working for someone else. Many of my clients have been with me for years, because once they find a good writer, they are very loyal.
Writing for an article bank is probably the easiest way to get started and it’s also fun. Write an article about whatever you like and submit it to the article bank as an ad for your writing services. When an article is picked up by a website, your bio box that you submitted with it is also published, telling others about your freelance writing services. The more your articles are used, the more your skills will be in demand. Plus, many article banks pay you every time your article is used. An article you wrote years ago can still earn you money today.
Even if you don’t think you have any expertise, you should write for an article bank. There are usually a lot of topics that are in high demand at a particular time. Write on one of those subjects and use the list to write about similar topics. People will soon see that you are an expert in that field and will be willing to pay you for your knowledge.
You can — and should — also start a blog in order to jump start your writing career. As with the article banks, you can write about whatever suits you. For example, if you love dogs, start blogging about your favorite breed. You can earn money promoting affiliate products related to that breed. Blog posts are generally short so you can maintain several blogs easily and make good money.
Once you have your own blogs established, you will easily be able to convince companies to let you create blogs for them on a variety of subjects.
Beginning writers will find it easy to get started with articles and blogs. After they’ve been published, it’s an easy matter to find clients for their writing services. You can show them that your articles and blogs will make them money, thereby saving key personnel for other duties. The company’s improved profits will convince them to pay you well.
